Our shortest route

UK FELIXSTOWE FRANCE Paris
Folkestone shuttle or a Dover ferry, then the French motorway network to the door.

France is the shortest route we run and the one where people most often assume the crossing is the hard part. It is not. The crossing is a booked slot and a stretch of motorway; the difficulty is at the two ends.

Paris addresses are reached through a porte cochère into a courtyard, up a stone stair that turns, or into a lift added a century after the building went up. That combination decides the crew size far more than the mileage does.

Because the run is short, a single flat rarely fills a van — which makes the shared slot genuinely good value on this route rather than a compromise. We will say which of the three levels fits your inventory rather than steering you up the list.

Cities & regions

5 covered

PARIS

Courtyard entrances, small lifts and spiral stairs. Where a hoist is the only way in, it is planned at survey.

LYON & BORDEAUX

Old city-centre stock with enforced loading restrictions. Where the van may stand decides the carry.

THE DORDOGNE & SOUTH-WEST

Larger houses on lanes a long vehicle cannot always take.

PROVENCE & THE CÔTE D’AZUR

Hill villages with stepped approaches and addresses no vehicle reaches.

BRITTANY & NORMANDY

The shortest leg of all, and the one most often booked as a shared slot.

Customs & paperwork

France is in the EU customs union. We file the UK export declaration and the French import declaration, and apply for transfer-of-residence relief where you qualify. You supply the passport, proof of the French address, and the transfer-of-residence certificate from the mairie. Nothing here is legal, tax or immigration advice.

Demand drives the route schedule. Higher demand = more frequent shared-slot departures = lower wait windows.

Common France questions

FAQ. ANSWERS, NOT ESSAYS.

Q01. Is a shared slot sensible to France?
Often, yes. The run is short enough that a single flat rarely fills a van, so sharing costs less and the extra handling is modest compared with the longer routes.
Q02. Will the van fit into a Paris courtyard?
Usually, which is part of why we run vans rather than lorries. We check the entrance width at survey because a courtyard a van clears is one a rigid truck does not.
Q03. Who files the customs entry?
We do, against documents you supply. The declarations are legally yours and so is their accuracy; we tell you exactly what is normally asked for.
Q04. Do you go beyond mainland France?
Corsica adds a ferry leg and we will quote it on the same three levels. Tell us the exact address and we will say plainly what the ferry adds.
