Greece is the most geographically scattered of our three routes. Athens and Thessaloniki are the bulk. Then there is Crete (separate ferry), the Cyclades and Dodecanese (separate ferries again), and the Peloponnese mainland reachable directly. Each island adds a separate ferry leg we quote transparently.

Roughly 2,200 monthly UK searches for "moving to Greece from UK". Two main audiences: Athens-bound remote workers and academics, and lifestyle-driven retirees heading for the Peloponnese, Crete, or one of the islands. Same three service levels cover both, with island onward-legs quoted line-by-line.

Mainland Greece is the most direct of our three routes — the Italy-to-Patras ferry is short and the Greek motorway network is direct. Island addresses add a secondary ferry to the mainland delivery.

Cities & regions

5 covered

ATHENS

The bulk of our Greek work. Apartment blocks, tight parking. Confirm lift access and a parking permit window in your photos.

THESSALONIKI

Northern Greece. Direct overnight from Igoumenitsa port. Popular with academics. Slightly tighter total transit than Athens because of the port pairing.

CRETE (HERAKLION, CHANIA)

Ferry from Piraeus, then road. Quoted as Athens + Crete onward leg.

PELOPONNESE MAINLAND

Kalamata, Nafplio, the smaller villages. Direct road from Patras port — sometimes more direct than Athens itself.

CYCLADES & DODECANESE (MYKONOS, SANTORINI, RHODES)

Each requires a separate ferry. We quote each island case-by-case. Most common are Naxos, Paros, Rhodes.

Customs & paperwork

Greece is inside the EU customs union. Post-Brexit, we file the UK export declaration and the Greek import declaration at the entry port (Patras or Igoumenitsa). Transfer-of-residence relief covers the import VAT — the standard six-month possession requirement applies. We file on your behalf with your passport, AFM (Greek tax number), proof of Greek address, and signed inventory.

Demand drives the route schedule. Higher demand = more frequent shared-slot departures = lower wait windows.

Common Greece questions

FAQ. ANSWERS, NOT ESSAYS.

Q01. How does an Athens move compare to Cyprus or Malta?
Athens is the most direct of our mainland Mediterranean routes — the Italy-to-Patras ferry is short and the motorway run from Patras to Athens is direct, so the pickup-to-delivery cycle is tighter than the Cyprus or Malta runs. Your written quote confirms the schedule.
Q02. Can you move to Crete or one of the islands?
Yes. We deliver to Athens (mainland) and then onward by ferry. We quote the onward leg as a separate, transparent line in your written quote. No surprise additions on the day.
Q03. Do I need an AFM (Greek tax number) before the move?
For transfer-of-residence relief, yes — the customs office at Patras or Igoumenitsa requires it on the import declaration. If you do not have one yet, we can submit without relief and you pay the import VAT, then claim it back once your AFM is registered. Less common but workable.
Q04. How does the shared slot work for Greek islands?
It does not run direct to the islands — only to Athens or Thessaloniki. Island addresses are quoted on the dedicated van or full service tier, with the onward ferry leg priced in. Shared slot to Athens then onward by ferry yourself is technically possible, but we do not arrange the second leg in that combination.
