UK FELIXSTOWE SPAIN Madrid
Folkestone shuttle, then the French motorway network south and over the Pyrenees at Irún.

Spain is where most of our work goes, and it is the reason a five-person firm can run full vans. The volume is concentrated enough that a shared slot leaves regularly rather than waiting weeks for a second household to fill it.

The drive is long and the packing standard reflects that. Damage on a run of this length comes from vibration and stacking rather than from anybody dropping anything, so rigid fragile items are crated rather than blanket-wrapped.

What catches people out is the far end rather than the distance. A fourth-floor Madrid flat with a lift retro-fitted into an old stairwell is the Spanish norm, and the lift is frequently too small for a sofa. We measure it at survey rather than finding out on the day.

Cities & regions

5 covered

MADRID

Central blocks with a portal and a small lift. The lift dimension decides how the day runs.

BARCELONA

Eixample flats with narrow stairwells and enforced loading restrictions in the centre.

VALENCIA & THE COSTA BLANCA

A mix of city flats and urbanisations. Gate codes and height barriers are the recurring obstacle.

MÁLAGA & THE COSTA DEL SOL

Our most-travelled Spanish leg. Whitewashed old towns have stepped streets no van enters.

SEVILLE & INLAND ANDALUSIA

Long approaches, good access at the door, and heat that shapes the order of the day.

Customs & paperwork

Spain is in the EU customs union. We file the UK export declaration and the Spanish import declaration, and apply for transfer-of-residence relief where you qualify. You supply the passport, the NIE where you hold one, and the empadronamiento or escritura proving the destination address. Nothing here is legal, tax or immigration advice.

Demand drives the route schedule. Higher demand = more frequent shared-slot departures = lower wait windows.

Common Spain questions

FAQ. ANSWERS, NOT ESSAYS.

Q01. Which service level suits a whole house?
Dedicated Van or Full Service. A whole house rarely fits a shared slot, and on a run this long the extra handling a shared load involves is worth avoiding for a full inventory.
Q02. Do I need an NIE before you load?
It is usually asked for as part of the customs file. What is strictly required is for the Spanish authorities to say rather than us — tell us where you are with it and we will work the timing around it.
Q03. What if the lift will not take my sofa?
Then it goes up the stair, and if the stair will not take it either we plan for that before loading. All three outcomes are plannable; discovering them on a Madrid pavement is not.
Q04. Do you cover the islands?
The Balearics and the Canaries add a ferry leg to the road run and we quote them on the same three service levels. Tell us the exact address and we will say plainly what the ferry adds.
